I have the following problem with a Arc LS 1xAA tailcap. It only works with certain batteries, I think depending on length or size of the + button. I tried using fresh Sanyo 2500 in it, as well as the assortment of odd 1xaa cells of varying voltage, and only certain cells would make it turn on. When the full Sanyos didn't work, I knew it wasn't a voltage problem, it has to do with the tailcap.
Anyone else have this experience with a twist tailcap? My 2xAA works fine so far.

There is a length variation in cells, and too short ones may still not reach between the fixed contacts on an LS when screwed all the way in. The classic way to fix this is to put a small pad of aluminum foil in the bottom.

You have to be careful that the aluminum foil doesn't come loose and bridge the gap between the contact and the battery when you intend the light to be off. IIRC, wedging it down on the post at the negative end of the body so it stays put fixes this, unless you drop the light on its head.

Or just use the batteries which are long enough...

Well I don't want to be limited America's Choice batteries, so I'll play with some foil now and see what happens, thanks 'engineer.

Edit- Well the spacer didn't help any. I'm not sure what the deal it, the head's engine-ring looks like it's miss threaded into the head maybe, but my smallest needle nose pliers are too thick to unthread it. I'll see if I can re do the head ring Monday.
