Q: Battery setup on 5 Cree Mag D.

Can anyone suggest a battery setup for 5 crees on Mag 4D tube? i have 16 Sanyo 2700 ready to power the crees but which value should i used for calculating vF in total(all crees are connected in series)? iam using Cree Q2
Would 16 sanyos have enough power to light up 5 crees?

Are you planning on using a driver in there?

If not, you will probably be overdriving the LED until the battery voltage hits about 1.15v per battery.

finaly i give it a go and finished it...

Using 14 Sanyo with 1 ohm resistor. Fresh from charger the LEDs are driven @1A. i am sure it will soon drop to 0.5A or so, i will get a boost driver soon...
Problem with resistor is when freshly charged 14 sanyo will drive it @1A which is good, but as the voltage sag to normal 1.2v it will be underdriven. But to properly drive the cree it needs 16 sanyo but when freshly charged will give at least 2-3amp(with the same resistor) to cree which is dangerous. So without proper regulator i'll keep using 14 sanyo to be on the safe side,,,,

Using fresh battery this thing is bright...
