Question about LF HO-4....

I just got one of the LF HO-4's as well as an EO-9. I tried running the HO-4 on one unprotected 3.7VRCR123, and noticed the output dropped very rapidly. On a fresh cell, within the first minute it lost 50% of it's brightness! I take it that this lamp draws too much current for one RCR123 cell? I have switched set-ups, and am now running it on one unprotected 17670 with much better results. Can anyone chime in on this...
 
Yes, the HO-4 pulls 1.8A, which is too much for an RCR123 (max 1.5A). You just get too much voltage sag, and it isn't doing the cell any good either. The 17670 is a better solution for it. In fact with a 17670 (or 18650) you could power an EO-4 (190 lm).
