I got this thing about a month ago but have never carried it due to one thing. How do you "set" the mode? or can you? no matter what I do it switches modes with every press of the button. A soft press should do this, but when I turn the light off (from the low setting), I dont want it to be set to strobe when I turn it back on. It always advances. Anyone else have this problem? Is it normal? I cant stand it

By the way --> I have the similar EMR, which is not very bright. Should have 200lm and have only 100lm. A typical Ultrashadow-light.

I also have the EMR1, which does -look- very similar. I have noticed with mine that sometimes it does switch on in the next mode. Usually it switches on in High but sometimes (5% or less of the time) it will switch on in the next mode (medium) I am not sure if it is a circuit problem or a switch problem. The fact that it does it sporadically leads me to believe that it is a problem with the switch. Either I don't press it consistently or it doesn't function consistently, and it actuates twice?
As to the brightness I guess I got lucky becasue mine is awesome. For comparison I have two advance auto 2C lights, one upgraded with a SSC the other with a Q5. It edges out the SSC and is as bright as the Q5.

I thought it was the FMR1 as well, and appears to be identical but mine says FMC1 on the side of the light . .... It has been a while since I bought it and never really gave it much attention since I hated the way it operated so I dont know the difference. Other than that I am pretty happy with it. Definitely brighter than the other MTE/Ultrafire lights I have. Its on par with my Jetbeam CLE v.2 and just a tad less bright than my Romisen RC-F4 (my new favorite). I dont think the Romisen can be beat for the price (or by anything under $25 for that matter).

edit-I'm assuming the R stands for rebel? Mine says FMC1 Cree Led...so thats probably the difference (C= Cree).
