Questions about my Strion

I have noticed lately that my SL Strion is starting to be inconsistent in how it lights up. I will give it a twist and the light starts out dim, but I can tap it and it gets brighter, sometimes twist on and push on the tail cap to get it brighter. Is the battery just going dead or is it another problem?

The light is a backup belt carry light, doesn't get near the use that the in car Ultra Stinger gets, and now will probably now get less use since I got a Malkoff upgrade for my 3D Mag. Unless I start digging in the patrol bag, I haven't seen the Scorpion in forever.

Oh yes, and one of those burning questions probably every newbie asks here, what the heck is a ROP?

sounds like you are having problems with the switching mechanism (which is located at the front of the light, the whole battery moves to run the switch)
i dont know how to fix it though

and the ROP is "Roar of the Pelican" a PR base bulb from a Pelican Light (i cant remember which one) stuffed into a maglite with metal reflector, glass lens and some AA batterys in a holder.

You think Streamlight customer service would have any advice? I have had good dealings with them in the past, with the scorpion, wore out the rubber sleeve, and they sent a new one right out when I contacted them.

If tapping makes a difference than it could be bad contact somewhere, a good cleanout of all contact points may be all that's necessary. Also have a close look at the switch while you are at it, could be dirt or a loose component in the switch.
