I have a wad of 501B's, but just received some 502B bodies for my spare drop-ins, and I notice a difference.

The 502B has a "spacer" of sorts between the module and the battery(ies). As a result, I can't seem to wedge 2 RCR123A's in the barrel and get the tailcap on. One 18650 works fine, but even at that the tailcap doesn't seem to screw *completely* on ... it's like there's still a thread or two not seated. Two RCR123A's fit fine in the 501B's.

The DX site shows the 502 will take 2xCR123A's, so is it "normal" to have to have a sledge hammer to get the tailcap on with them? Also, can the spacer thingy be removed, or should it be left in place?

I have both 501B and 502B and both of them had that sort of plastic spacer, which acts as a mechanical reverse polarity protection, in battery tube.
I removed the "spacer" almost immediately when I received them from DX... I find it totally useless.

Hmmm ... I have 6 501's and none of them had the spacer.

Did you just muscle it out or what? ... It seems wedged in there pretty firmly. Any chance of damaging the barrel?

As an aside, I might add that the 502B seems a little heavier-duty and better made than the 501B, but it has a really crummy clicky. Loooong throw and spongy feel. I thought the thing was broken until I kept pushing and it finally clicked.
