Anybody have any idea on something a little more elegant than rubber-and-velcro TwoFish blocks? Ideally I would like something that clicks into a mount on the handlebar ALA Cateye or these Marwi handlebar mounts.

Obviously they are not designed for a round flashlight. I was considering something rather ugly like a black zip-tie thru the holes along with some epoxy to hold the removable clip to the flashlight body. Not pretty, but I think it would click in and out easily. I know the Cateye mounts allow rotation in the horizontal plane to center the beam, and it appears the Marwi do not.

Surely I'm not the only person to want to use a 1" flashlight on the handlebars. Any tips on helmet mounting would be appreciated as well, I would like both options.

How about one of these for the bars? The torch was not supplied with the mount.

/\ .......... Tesco 3W 2AA Torch plus QR Bar mount. Innertube clad torch, the mount fits standard or oversize bars.

/\ ................ Parts

The Bar section is pretty standard .... seems to accept, quite solidly, several Smart Bike Light models and probably other makes directly without the torch bit. Torch part accepts objects up to 27mm round. Good solid lock and takes the weight of the Tesco torch with no problem. I added a little more innertube to match the diameter of the torch with the circular mount.

/\ ................ The torch part. Screw tightens against torch. I leave this part on the torch when not mounted on the bike, small enough to pocket the torch with it on, and still use the torch as a ...... torch! Not loosened yet in 500 miles of bumpy tracks.

The bad news .... don't know who makes it! LBS donated it from his scrap box. Might be able to find out make, the LBS said it came with a small, cheap aluminium multi LED torch in a bubble pack . Possibly the other way round . They may well still sell them and I could find out the make. Let me know.

Well, yes, that is exactly what I would like. Seems reasonable enough; a quick-release for a 1" round flashlight. But I have been unable to find one, and a custom fabrication job would seem a bit extreme.

If you are able to provide a link or manufacturer name, please post.

I'll try LBS tomorrow. Let you know.

If he has any more in the junk box I'll bag one for you! Might just be a junk-box one off though. If he still sells the cheapy torch we might get a lead on the maker.

Partial success. LBS had no other in the spares box and had sold out of the light set it came from. The set was made by "Torch".

I Googled the "Torch" company (not easy!) and eventually found this:

which led me to this seller (others may be available!):

and to this:

and this:

(not as useful as I first thought ...... I've checked and all links point to the same email address!)

Hope this helps.

Well, I don't know what more I could ask for. All that remains is for me to try and find them here in the USA. It seems such an obvious product, but apparently nobody makes it but Torch.

Thanks!!

You're welcome. There's one here ... but looks a little pricey compared to UK ...... but, you'd get a host body for something better thrown in with the mount!
