Don, I really liked the most recent Red/Orange Lux III. I would like to use a Red/Orange Lux III running at 1000ma in an Aleph 3 head in Black. I also would like a Standard Flat Top Switch in Black with the resistance you recommend to use with it. I would like to use the light with mostly two cr123 cells, with the possibility of one cell. I have a one and two cell bodies. Thanks alot...

I can't do custom or special plating of single parts on request. I actually do have two chrome A-3 heads at present and they have matching chrome standard McE2S tail caps. One cap has one H3 vial and the other has three H3 vials in it. I was planning on building these out with DB917's and 2x123 swirl tubes. You could probably talk me out of a head and tail-cap as loose parts if you get to me before I build out the lights.

Adding vials after plating is not a great idea and tear down and set up of the mill for one part is a real time consumer.

Shortly, I will likely be so busy trying to build McLuxIII-PD's that the Alephs will be limited mostly to special and unique complete builds. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Question.
On the Alephs, can you answer a couple of questions for me in regard to the 'bare' Aluminum bodies, heads and tailcaps.

1. Somewhere on this forum you state that you have the threads cut with a greater tolerance to compensate for the added thickness of the anodizing. So can one then presume that the Aluminum threads in a 'bare' body will have a little more slop than normal.

2. Is the inside of a 'bare' body anodized.

I have requested larger pilot or tap holes as well as reduced OD on the male threads. However the threads themselves likely conform to the machinist's handbook say when it comes to pitch diameter. I also have had the parts etched for longer periods prior to anodizing; something that is not in effect on the raw parts. I have been more concerned with reducing the major and minor diameters in the threads so that any film build would not cause interference.

The raw parts are completely raw and don't have excessive back lash,IMHO. I should also mention that I am getting really low on raw parts and am out of many.

I still have a couple of these but they don't take a LE; the converter and E-can are all potted in place. If you know the drive level and converter you want, please send me an E-mail with that info as well as your mailing address and I can get to it.

I got my aleph 3 today...it is awesome! thanks! One quick question....the LE is a wiz2 set at 500ma....can I run the light on 2xCR2 until my pila 150s arrives?

Glad you got the light. The Wiz2 is good up to 6V in so two CR2's is a great source. Just don't go with two Li-Ion rechargeables. It will also work fine on a single CR123 and possibly a single CR2.

Don,

I've got one of those G2GH 190lu Red/Orange lux3 stars coming in soon. What LE would I need to make the most of it on a single CR123 or 123Rech? I'm a bit of an extremist so I want to push it to the wall. You seem to have worked out the wrinkles in mounting this LED. Target is an A2 on 1x123 pack.

Also, do you want me to rip it off the star or are you more confident doing it? I would have bought the emitter but that offering came later.
