At one time there was a CPF wiki that listed all lights that would work with specific rechargeable batteries, but I see that it has been taken down because of spammers. Is there another link or site that lists specific lights that work with specific rechargeable batteries?

Here's an excellent thread with great information by mdocod regarding lithium-ions and incandescents: link.

I actually had seen that thread and it is useful. I'm interested in finding out which stock lights, both incan and LED, can use an (or two) 18650 batteries. Sounds like all SF's are too small (tubewise); lots of DX LED lights require them....what other lights can they go in, without changing bulbs or getting into mods? They are so commonly used, and I'm trying to figure out where....

Wolf-eyes lights accept 18500s and 18650s without modification although I hear the lights have plastic lenses wich you might want to change.

Inova lights don't like the extra voltage, even though a RCR123 will physically fit in the tube. I think problems like these are why a chart would be difficult. A few things can prevent a light from being compatible with a rechargable. Size, voltage, current draw.... just off the top of my head. It'd make the most useful Venn diagram ever, though.

The incan chart I did is actually about as extensive as need be for conversions. There are a few lights out there, that are sold as requiring 18650s (like the UF WF-500) that I didn't bother including in the chart because it is already sold as requiring them. Unfortunately, I decided to limit it to incan setups, as with LED setups, the list would be mind boggling, as there are at least 10-20 D26 style LED drop-in modules that would work in at least a few dozen different hosts each, there's a new li-ion powered LED job popping up on the chinese market every few days, it would be impossible to maintain or manage or even read through for that matter. It would be hundreds of pages long if it followed the same format. As it would require so many "footnotes" and "special circumstances" to be functional.

I recovered the Battery Compatibility Chart here: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=2235599&postcount=48
The information is there, but I don't have access to update the Wiki page and put it back.

It should be possible to recover the other lost pages too, the same way.

I posted this message in the forum but didn't get a reply. It seems I need to get directly in touch with whoever maintains the Wiki so we can put back the vandalized pages. I suppose I will send a PM to FlashInThePan since he seems to be the originator of the site.

Thanks to all. Great info. I'm a little disappointed that 18650's won't fit in more bodies, but I'm sure I'll find a good use for them....like my newest Mag85 attempt.

Is there an informal listing floating around of the rechargeabls compatable with SureFires only?
:naughty:
