I tend to upgrade my EDC once a year, and as the nights are starting to draw in here it's about time I started looking...

Looking for something small that I can carry on my keyring.
I'm currently carrying an ITC A3 upgraded which had been nigh on perfect, but for the past few months it's been quite unreliable. Have tried cleaning threads and regreasing but it's not made a difference :(

I had a Fenix E01 previously but the head kept turning on/completely unscrewing in my pocket.

I've also got a couple of NDIs but they rip my pockets to shreds!

So to summarise, I'm looking for:
Single AAA or (preferably) AA powered
Single or (preferably) multistep brightness
Mix of flood and throw
Pocket and keyring friendly
Reliable!
Relatively cheap - no more than ~£30-40?

Oh, and I live in the UK...

What would you recommend?

TIA
Adam

It's not the threads that really need cleaning, it's the end of the battery tube and it's contact point in the head. Also take a pencil eraser to the spring. Might be all it takes.

For a great new light, the Preon Revo sounds like a winner. Just a bit out of your price range.

Nitecore D10, just about the perfect AA EDC (IMO).
I keep buying and selling them, but I always go back to the Nitecore.
I do want to try the NDI though...

Well, If everything you need to light up is 3 inches in front of your face, go with the Maglite Solitaire.

Now, I carry a Streamlight Key Mate on my key chain. It has a surprising amount of output for such a small light. For a little more power, I carry a Streamlight Microstream. About 20 lumens I think with one AAA. Its comparable to the E01 in size, but comes with a clip, has a clicky switch that acts as a momentary as well, and I think it's a little brighter.

So that's been my EDC for the past couple years and it's worked pretty great. But I just bought a Nitecore EX10 to replace the Microstream. Has a lot more bang for the buck. Take a look at the Nitecore D10, it's the AA version of the EX10. It has different outputs for different situations, simple UI, and it looks great. I like the Quark series too from 4Sevens. They have a pretty nice AA and the Preon single AAA looks nice as well.

Hope that helps!

preon1 or preon revo would be my suggestions if you wish to replace the itp a3. and if you like to have a clicky then order the preon1 and add their clicky too. (or like i did. i got the preon2 and then the spare 1aaa body)

or if itp does not get better with cleanup etc. then why not buy a second one? :) (i got 4 of them spread around in different uses and locations)

and if you prefer to save few dollars order only the preon head assembly (its 29$ vs 37/45$) and screw that on your old itp a3 body.

and dont forget cfp discount that 47s offer, its -8%.
