ok I haven't looked at torches for a while. I'm hoping some of you wouldn't mind pointing me in the right direction... I want a torch that:

  • runs on two AA batteries; (possibly three if necessary)
  • has a large head (wide) that has good spread - I'm not looking for throw; (I fancy the look of narrow body and large head)
  • to be used to illuminate 5 ~15 ft ie walking down the garden, looking in my shed for things;
  • is clickie (I think that's what it's called) definately not twistie
  • made of (hard-anodised) aluminium;
  • does NOT have strobe or S-O-S; has maybe three levels of brightness ie low, medium, high;
  • Decent LED bulb
I'm used to makes like Tiablo; Lumapower and Jetbeam, which I like. I had a Lumapower M3 tactical transformer, which was something like I'm describing (you could assembly different parts), but ideally something with a slightly wider head.

Any ideas? Muchos Gratis :D

I'd like to point out: large head = throw. There's really no way to get around this, except making the reflector really short and OP, which is rare. You might as well go with a small head if you don't want throw.

great thanks all - the nitecore looks good. Like the idea of trying the pistondrive, which I've not experienced before.

just to add, what if I were to widen my criteria to include 2xCR123's? (not rechargeable but disposable).

Eagletac T20C comes with a diffuser lens so you can enjoy the floody beam or if you ever need throw you just unscrew the diffuser lens.
I use it in my car with diffuser on for close up searching but take off the lens if I want to scare some trees.

It does have strobe but you must double click to activate it.

Heck yes Zeige!!

:devil:
