My edc light for the last few years has been a nitecore mh20. I've been quite happy with it. The beam, spill, brightness, tint, size, shape, etc are all nearly perfect for my use. I've had a few other lights, and I'm pretty partial to the nitecore half click UI. The only thing I would change is to add a type c usb. But the mh20 is now discontinued. A&A still has some left, so I have to either grab 1 or 2 of those, or pick a new light. I thought the e4k would be it, but the UI is garbage. I bought one, but gave it away I hated it so badly. I looked at the nitecore table at the nra show and didn't find anything that interested me at all.
I'd like to hear some suggestions of others to look at before I go ahead and order a couple "obsolete" lights...

(Without regard to the specifics of that particular light, which I'm not familiar with)...

What happened to the one you've been using and liking? If it failed I might or might not say this, but if it's still alive and still in use, and perhaps you just want a second light you like as much, I think there's a good case for buying a second light like you have / had while they're still in the pipeline.

Even with as many choices and options as we have these days, if one is fairly particular about what they prefer (as many around here are), it can still be very difficult to find something one likes (almost) everything about. If I were in that situation, I'd probably hedge my bet and buy 1 more MH20 now while I could, then perhaps look around more thoroughly for a second option going forward. That light may not be still in production, but that's a long way from being in any real way 'obsolete'. Things haven't been moving that fast lately, and if it's been doing the job well, it can continue to.

Again, that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy another different light, I'm just sayin':). There's not much worse than losing a light we really like, and not being able to find a current replacement for it that we like as much! That really sucks.

I still have it. But I dropped it down inside a block wall on a job last week. It took alot of time to fish back out. And it made me think about how much I'd miss it.

For something different, robust and close to the same price point: Malkoff MDC or the larger MD2. Simple UI.

I'd have a hard time with something that started in high every time. Part of what I love about the old Nitecore ui is if you leave it in medium you have instant access to max, min, and med. I'm an electrician, and work up close to things alot. So instant low is fantastic...

Some of the MDC is a LMH.

Jetbeam RRT-01 is excellent. It's rotary...starts out whatever you want depending on the rotary. can go from .01 lumens to around 600
Can use CR123, 18350, 18500, 18650. Can easily be operated with 1 hand.
