I decided to upgrade my Fenix L2D CE to whatever LED is in there now to a R2. I managed to loosen the head with a pair of rubber strap wrenches bought from Frys: $7.99 plus the 8.25% tax we Californians have been legislated to endure.
I cleaned the residual glue from the threads and re- assembled it to determine if I had done any damage while dismantling it. The two halves assembled without resistance until the last revolution. I backed it off about 3/4 of a turn. I hit the switch and it functions, however the beam is now this large, smoother-looking Chrysanthemum-shaped, Lux-V-sized beam without the ghost rings. Interesting!
I might keep it in this focus area after I install the R2.
