Hello everybody,

i ordered some
TrustFire TR-803, which have the cree board glued in the head with silicone.
you can see its quite recessed, here:

how can i remove the entire board? heat? cooling? there is no way to push it out, and getting anything between the head and board is difficult, to say least. last idea would be to drill a hole through the head, and push the board out through that?

any ideas?

thanks in advance!

Manuel

I have removed a simillar LED by use of a small blow torch and heated up the head then pryed off the LED with a screwdriver

Desolder the leads to the board, and use a small screwdriver between the head and board. A twisting action, like undoing a screw will break the bond of the silicone thermal adhesive.

i tried to snap it out with a screwdriver (again), only made sents into the board. dumped it into a "water-boiler", let it boil the water (instead of putting it into boiling water directly!), the board went out quite easily with the screwdriver! the silicone wasnt soft or anything, it seems like regular bathroom-cilicone. anyway, the board is out, thanks for the help!
