Does anyone know how to remove the bulb holder on a 2 AAA Mag light? Ideally without damaging it so it can be reused if I so choose to. I can surly break it to remove it cause it's plastic, but trying to avoid that. It's loose and will turn but I see no way of releasing it from the barrel. The head is larger than the tube and it won't just pull out either. anyone?

insert a very fine-tipped screwdriver under that plastic part shown in your pic, and pry up gently. You may need to work your way slowly around the plastic part or the plastic "legs" holding it in place may break.

Hmmm, I was putting some leds that didn't fit into one of my 2AA's and when I tried to pull them out that piece came with it...so its not too hard to get out, you just need to be carefull and be gentle...easier said then done, I know, lol...

Ok, now that was easy enough. Pried with a screwdriver and it popped right off. It's still good but I can't use it on this light anymore. I had to cut the end off the tube to get the batteries to reach the new head. An LOD CE now sits on the 2 aaa Mag body. :) It's not the best, but it works! Here's what I did....

After removing the bulb holder, I cut the end off back-to and keeping about the last 2 threads. I then had to grind down the body about a 1/2in. from the end in order for it to fit inside the LOD head. The barrel is too big and of course the threads don't match. After it would fit inside the LOD head, I cleaned up the rough edges a bit and wrapped some Teflon tape around it, just enough of it so that it actually threaded onto the head. It's not real secure but good enough to play with.

To change modes I have to use the tailcap. The head just doesn't match up well enough for that. About a turn, turn and a half removes battery contact to turn it Off.

I'm using 2 NiMh's and of course, it's pretty bright. I only spent about 1/2 hr. on this.

I would like to see Fenix come out with a 2aaa version of this or a 3d party produce the body. I'm aware of the 10440 3.7v Li-lon usage in the LOD CE, this would just be another option.

You like? :grin2:

[EDIT] Thanks for the replies....

I'd buy one. It would be cool for one in natural HA. I would like the design style to be exactly the same but just longer to accomodate the extra AAA - now that would be pretty cool!
