Let someone borrow it and now I am missing the spring. I have contacted CS, but I have a feeling I won't have much luck without a hassle.

Anyone run into this situation before? Is there a spring I can purchase somewhere that can serve as an alternative?

Actually Streamlight customer service tends to be very good.
You might get lucky. Also.... Welcome to CPF.

You might want to shoot this place a 'contact' e-mail on site to verify details / availability. If it checks out, order one, and after you receive it scratch that friend off your Christmas card list;-)

Call Streamlight on the phone during working hours. They'll either send you the part, or if they don't stock it they'll probably exchange your light for a new one.

Thanks! Great find. I couldn't find the springs anywhere via search.

Streamlight wrote back. It appears they're going to ship me a spring free of charge (they may have thought the flashlight came without the spring as I only said it was missing and needed to purchase a replacement. YMMV). For sure, they'll be my next torch purchase.

I knew it. Normally we don't discuss Streamlight too often on CPF.
But the company easily ranks right up there when it comes to customer service.

Very good! That's even better than ordering it from a distributor!

If you ever find a flashlight manufacturer with more than 5 employees with customer service or parts availability that's as good as SL, PM me their name. I'd like to know which one that is;-)

Enjoy your PT-X. I really like mine.

I did contact that distributor you mentioned. They said they were out of stock and it would take 2 weeks - so that's an option if for whatever reason streamlight doesn't follow thru - will update on that.

Free is better, and I won't have to worry about my CC being stolen - not that I suspect that distributor is unsafe.

Yes, that note on the page I linked says:

"NOTE ON SHIPPING STEAMLIGHT ITEMS especially small parts. We receive deliveries weekly from Streamlight and bundle small parts because Streamlight doesn't drop ship orders to end users. We will send you the tracking information as soon as your item leaves our facility on the way to you. Any questions or concerns please contact us. Polytac X - Spring Head"

That means it would take up to a couple of weeks to get it, as they 'batch' their SL small parts orders weekly, as they explain. They don't 'stock' every tiny part, but would nevertheless be a good source. Their zillions of distributors are a great resource. The only SL replacement part I've ever bought over the decades was from a distributor. Those can at times be as close as a local 'cop shop'. That said, their corporate parts fulfillment is great too, and 'faster' and 'free' beats '2 weeks' and paying for it. I'd take the 'faster and free' option too in this case. The important point is that with SL, there are usually plenty of options for getting a part. Like I said, if you find a manufacturer of any size that matches them for support, I want to know who it is. I won't hold my breath though:)

You did well!

I'd hazard a guess savelives orders a batch from SL when out of stock and there's a new order as they probably don't get many spring orders.

They replied to me quickly. The 2 weeks is fine with me, and I may order one from there anyway for a spare. I'd actually prefer to pay something for the spring. I just noticed they accept Paypal, so that obviates my concern over my CC details being snagged by thieves.

Super helpful forum! I've been following for a long time.

Thanks for sharing your experience and glad to know SL offers such support if I ever need it for my Polytac X.

My experiences with Streamlight have been great even though I am outside of the US. I am not able to order through the part store so I emailed them asking where I could get some replacement lens caps. They said they I couldn't order them but if I took some pictures of the light they could send me them free on warranty. I see they now have an authorized service center in my city but I haven't need to visit them

I see the OP is in NC so I will post this just in case. I am sure Streamlight will follow through and send the spring.
