Runtime and Output Question

I've been playing with a McLuxIII-27LT-S recently. It is just an amazing light as are all of Don's creations. :)

My question, has anyone tested the runtime of the low and high modes on this light? Also the output? I read the FAQ for the series but there was no info yet on the new Seoul configuration. I'm imagining that the runtime on low, which is 100ma I'm assuming, must be very long indeed...

I tested the output of mine with a 17670 cell before I got my light meter. But judging by my own eyes, the light was still very bright on high at the 3hr. mark, and provided usable light up to 5hrs. At that point, I quit. I have not done a runtime test on low, but need to re-do my test with my light meter as I noticed that the 17670 cell did not hold the lights regulation. Since then, I have switched back to 2 RCR123's. As far as output goes, I measured just under 5K lux at one meter, and the output compared with my other lights suggests that it is over 100lumens...probably closer to 120 with fresh cells.

Peter, Don measured about 140 lumens on high for this light in his integrating sphere.

As for runtime ... it should be about the same as the LuxIII version as the Seoul P4 and the LuxIII share basic characteristics .... which means about 90 minutes (give or take some for the usual lottery) on high.

Wow, that is truly impressive. I have to reiterate that I am just blown away by this thing. It lights up my whole yard with ease and I can see clear down the street a good 200-300 ft or so. The throw seems to just go on forever. Amazing...and they say that the Seoul LEDs will only get better this year!

What do you guys estimate for runtime on low?

This is the runtime on high and low for the LuxIII UX1K version.

Expect similar results for the Seoul P4 version, give or take a little.
This is a guesstimate though. We do not have measurements on this yet.

The 27LT is not the fanciest design on this planet, but it is a very useful and dependable tool. With a now greatly improved performance on both levels :D

Whoops, cleared! :D

Well, I'll say Bernie. This thing is a true scorcher and exactly what I have been hoping to get my hands on for a long time now. It easily bests any of my Surefires for throw. Certainly made for hard work and abuse too.
