This should be a BLAST!!
I have been talking with 4sevens and we thought it would be a great idea to put together a GT central to TN, GA and AL. This is a feeler at this time and depending on the response the location and time might change to accommodate everyone who is interested in attending.
If you are interested in attending but the date will not work for you then please post ASAP. The next weekend after Sept 29 will not work
If you are familiar with the area and know of a better place for this GT then please feel free to make a suggestion. Keep in mind the majority of the people will probably be coming from Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis so keeping this GT central to these locations is important. If you make a suggestion please check with the park in mind and see if a group campsite is available and hotels or cabins are an option for those who do not want to camp. Also if you call the park in mind you might not want to mention this is a flashlight GT, I just got an ear full from a park superintendent about keeping campers up all night flashing tents. LOL

This is a very nice state park and ideal for a short camping weekend with family and new friends. For those who choose to make this a weekend event you will not have a problem finding things to do Saturday during the day and of course I'm sure a group of us will do some hiking and exploring the area during the day. For those who choose to just attend the cookout and I'm sure the flashlight demonstrations afterwards please try to time your arrival around 5:00 PM when the grilling will start.
The park link will give you more detail on the fees but here are the basics.
$3.00 per car per day
We can double up in campsites.
73 Tent, Trailer, RV Campsites ($22)
30 Walk-in Campsites ($10)
11 Backcountry Campsites ($5/person)
16 Cottages ($95-$115)
There are some hotels nearby as well but according to the website the park gates close at 10:00. The last time I was at the park I do not recall the gate closing but this was several years ago.
