Hmm.....what would you pick if you wanted a boost driver capable of operating on 2x lithium ion (8.4V max input) and boosting that to 11.1V at 1A to drive a string of 3 LEDs?

I imagine this is a reasonably common problem with those 3 x Cree XP-Gs on a series board.....suggestions welcome!

Something that you could cram into a 17mm diameter or smaller would be great too. I am aware of the Taskled drivers and those are wonderful for magmods, but I'm seeing if I can get it in a smaller package.

Brilliant.......many thanks.. the list will come in useful for other things even if I don't end up finding what I want. :)

@KevinL

let me know if you find a 17mm driver that satisfy your needs, because I would like to try that, otherwise I am using MaxFlex for that purpose, but it is much bigger,...

I.

You can use DX 5xCree driver to drive 3 leds, it's also bigger but it'll fit mag C & D.

never mind, missread the op.

Do you have enough space to put it parallel to tube? If yes then you can make a Shark fit. Kenji is selling triple dropins. I purchases one from him and extra heatsink and crammed Shark inside. I wanted single mode light. I'm not sure what is exactly ID of heatsink but driver included is 17mm, so ID will be smaller. I unsoldered diode (I think it is diode) from Shark (on the bottom on this picture), filed PCB and soldered diode using short wires. It is set to ~650mA and potted. Works well so far (only 650mA because I'm using it with one Li-Ion in L2P body and want to be able run in with 2 CR123 if necessary without putting too much stress on them).
