Are there any inventions or easy-to-build solutions to secure my kids bike light? I'm supposed to update her bike light beacause evenings are getting darker here in northern Europe.

My kid is driving around quite a lot and every now and then she is leaving her bike on odd places like schoolyard ...:shakehead. My dream is to put the light permanently to the bike so that nobody could easily steal it :candle:. Mission Impossible ???

My kid has a Ultrafire C1 with DX MC-E drop-in on his bike.
I made a "lanyard" around the handlebars out of the type of plastic covered steel wire you attach to your lure when fishing pike.

Dynamo powered, because that is the only light that works - on the long run

Modern Dynos are really good (and hub dynamos perfect but expensive),
only "problem" is that You have to build Your own lights, because ready made ones are too expensive, while, at the same time, crap.

Nice thing is: very easy to build.
simple diode rectifier at front, easy circuit for back. Cheap components, ...,
perfect light, looking totally "normal"

Three white led for the front light,
rear light with 4 red diodes, wired parallel to the front one

AUSGEZEICHNET ! :twothumbs

Do you have specs or photo of the lamp (Gehäuse) and dynamo. Oder andere links zu Theme (messerforum?)

The alternative is to make the light easy to take off (like a bayonet mount) and just make sure this is done.

If your kid is young though he/she would probably forget it alot.

I've made these headlights combined with these tail lights and this circuit.
Because the things are all homebrew, the chance of someone stealing them is low.
A hub dynamo is essential because it cannot be disengaged like a bottle dynamo. Let them kids ride with lights on during the day, don't put a switch.
According to my experience, anything battery-powered doesn't work because either the batteries get pinched (useful for mp3-players, ..) or someone turns the lights on just for fun, just like they deflate tires, unscrew bicycle bells and loosen quick-releases...
The light system's cables are the weak point and should be protected. I went away from running them inside the frame because it's so hard to replace these (sometimes need to remove the BB to get the cable through). Now I use industrial pneumatic hose to protect the cables and I run them outside the frame.
