Please forgive a stranger in a foreign land!
I've been dabbling in the LED pool for a couple of years, laboring under impression that, other things being equal (and I know they hardly ever are), LEDs produced more light than incans. I don't know whether this is right or not, or whether it is even possible to answer the question.
I've been looking for a shortish light, up to about 5 inches in length, with the greatest output. I'd like to be able to interchange heads, using the same light source, or, better still, change the focus to give myself a hell of a throw, 3 to 4 degrees wide, at one extreme and a really good flood, maybe 20 degrees or so, at the other.
So, first of all, is this sort of thing possible?
Secondly, LED or incan?
Third, any suggestions?
In addition to LEDs with variously shaped reflectors and and I've tried aspheric lenses. These seem to come closest. I've tried HIDs and they certainly put out a lot of light but I haven't found anything that is narrow enough for what I want.
I don't think I've had an incan light in the last ten years, so I'm sure things have moved on a bit!
