So I have this trusty old 6P that I edc and it really is starting to show. I've scratched the lens to the point that I'm really wanting to replace it but don't know if it is possible or even worth doing. Can I replace just the lens in this old bezel or would it be easier to just replace the bezel itself?

Thanks!

You could purchase either a Z17 Lexan 'lens' (window) replacement kit,
or,
You could purchase a Z44-BK replacement bezel [featuring a Pyrex glass window]

You may first like to give SureFire a phone call and explain your situation and ask them what your options are.

Size15's

Thanks very much! Especially for those part #'s. SF customer svc. was very helpful the last time I called, I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Thanks again, :twothumbs

I would say get just the lens kit, it would be a shame to put one of the new bezels on that good ol' light of yours

It has been with me a loooong time and fits the pocket I carry it in much better than lights with the new anti-roll bezel. Until Size15's clued me in on the replacement lens I had doubts that they were available.

Hello, last time I spoke with Surefire they quoted me $1.75 for the Z17 kits. I know what you mean about the 6P originals, they are shorter, skinnier and overall more pocket friendly than the current 6P's with the anti-roll bezels. I have a Z17 kit and I was comparing the lens earlier tonight to the pyrex from a C2 made around 2000. The lens in the Z17 was about half as thick and bluish looking instead of clear. I'm not sure what this means... ?

Please let us know how it goes.

Ya, that's what I figured after looking at it again, thanks. :D

I assume the pyrex lenses are thicker for strength issues..

$1.75?? That's a great price, even if it's gone up 50% that is still less than I was expecting. I see a couple of those inbound just so I have some spares. Thanks!

Called SF today, struck out looking for the lens kit but do have a bezel inbound. It's off to google to search for the part number looking for NOS kits but even if I strike out there I will have clear lens thanks to SureFire's most excellent customer service!

Thanks again for all the help!

That's too bad.. I looked at the email again, from January of this year. I got the price wrong, they are $3.20. Sounds like they are out of stock now though.

I think its likely that there will be SureFire Dealers out there with replacement Lexan lens (window) kits in stock. You could call around and find out.

No worries, I appreciate the info and even at $3.20 it's not a bad price. :D

 Found a couple!

Thanks again to all.

Not sure if you still need it but you can probably find some lenses made of Borosilicate glass about the right size. True high-temp glass that meets mil-spec. I was shopping around at an online supply place and found some glass disks about the right size for $6.70 each. I just figured they would probably hold up better than most plastics, especially if you end up cranking up the heat.

I don´t know if it´s possible to replace the lens with a new one made of glass... at least the lexan lens on the Z32-bezel snaps into place, going over a ridge. It is not possible to remove by taking off some lensretainer-ring like the Z44 and others.

Hmmmm

Dremel off the lip nice and slow and epoxy in the glass with V10 glow powder mixed in there! Awesome for LED's but not for really high temp incan use. After glow will last all night and reflect off of the reflector for a neat effect. Easy to find on the nightstand too.

I replaced the window on my 10 year EDC, a 6Z that is pocket-carried, so many times that I finally gave in and installed a hex bezel. It's not quite as carry-friendly, but the lexan got mottled regularly and the pyrex doesn't.

Agent_Jaws, Scattergun, Sgt. LED, JNewell;

Thanks! More good info to think about.

Dremel and epoxy eh?

I may try the hex bezel, nothing to lose giving it a week or so.

When I was browsing for some SF parts I ran across a lens kit at www.opticsplanet.com . I can't remember off the top of my head how much they are but it might be worth checking out.
