Today I received the package from Battery Junction. Only a week from ordering.
Apart from 10 12000mAh Titanium, and 50 Panasonic CR123, and 16 Sanyo Eneloop AA cells I ordered two Fenix LD20, a PD20 and 4 Terralux Ministar1 LED bulbs.
Fenix LD20 didn't make me dissappointed! The beam is slightly narrower than it's predessecor. Hotspot is narrower and more intense in comparison to my L1D Q5. There is a noticable ring around the hotspot though this isn't just annoying, much less noticable than the ring of TK20.
I like the knurled part of the body, though I wonder why knurling is not longer. The tint is very equal the tint of my L1D.
With my ceiling bounce test I measured the difference of brightness between LD20 and L1D and PD20.
As stated the low mode of LD20 is around 3/4 of the low mode of L1D Q5. But the mid and high modes are brighter than L1D:
The 47 lumens level is slightly brighter than 53 lumens level of L1D, and the 94 lumens level is slightly brighter than 107 lumens of L1D.
The turbomode is fully twice as bright as the turbomode of L1D! The stated difference is 50% higher.
In comparison to my TK10 the turbomode is ca 76% of TK10.
PD20 is a very small light, but THAT bright! Too small to be really comfortable hold... All brightness modes are stated to be the same as LD20. But my measurings show that it's slightly brighter at all modes than LD20. The low mode is the same as low mode of L1D which is stated to 12 lumens. Turbomode is ~ 10% brighter than LD20 and consequently possibly close to 190 lumens.
My PD20 has much cooler tint than my LD20 and the hotspot is wider.
Though I knew that PD20 is quite close as bright as TK10 I yet became amazed of the light amount this little beauty puts out!
Terralux Ministar1 is a LED dropin which can replace the incan bulb in usual incan lights, as well as Maglite. I placed it in my 2D. Significantly dimmer than Ministar5. It's stated to 50 lumens but my measurement shows that it's around 1/4 of the Ministar5, and actually around 25 lumens.
But that's still a very usable light! Using in a 2-6 C or D-cell light (can be used for up to 9 volts) it will provide several hours, or maybe some day and night continual run. But I would't find it worth to carry a Maglite 6D for such a moderate output...
The tint is on the cooler side, like Ministar5.
Ministar1 is a very suitable replacement for the incan bulb in cheap lights which could be placed in cars or other places there you don't need to worry of loosing them. The price is low and you can buy a couple of them to place in different lights.
