I'm running XP Svc Pack 2, and it runs ultra smooth and reliably. I've heard of some preliminary negative things about Svc Pack 3...

Should I install it? Anyone here run it and have problems?

No problems here either. Been running it since the day it came out.

Ditto, had to check to make sure I had installed it. So I guess I really haven't noticed any difference. :)

DO NOT INSTALL!

I tried it 3 times and it freezes at about 75% completion on the step that says "Finalizing installation" Good thing I did an Acronis backup before installation, it saved my butt!

I would wait a bit so MS can get rid of the bugs.

Thanks, I use Acronis religiously which has saved my butt several times...

I am thinking I should hold off even if there is the slightest risk...

Go ahead and install it. I have not personally seen any issues, but as you see above, some people have.

With any updates from any operating system, there is always the chance there will be a problem. Of course, there is a chance I could have a flat tire, but it doesn't stop me from driving to work everyday.

No problems on my Intel core 2 duo system. ASUS motherboard with Intel chipset.

As always, back up before trying it.

Installed it last night on my Toshiba laptop, Intel Pentium M Processor. Working fine ....

I installed it on my work laptop. No real differences except one. I use PL/SQL Developer for Oracle queries/development. Before the update 2-3 seconds to start. After the update, 22 seconds. Uninstalled SP3. PL/SQL Developer starts within 3 seconds again.
Microsoft will begin "pushing" SP3 to Win XP machines soon. So it will be delivered via the Automatic updates. There is a "SP3 Blocker" that will work for a while.
