Whats the best 'drainer' light to get every last ounce of juice out of used 123s? I recall the Inova x5 being a good one, but arnt these 2x123 lights? How does the Surefire L1 compare? Would an L1 be good to finish off my used 123s? Are there better choices? I want to get an L1 but maybe not if theres a much better alternative.

Re: Single 123 LED drainer

I asked this very same question a while back. After receiving many valued suggestions I settled on a red X5. The red X5 uses only one cell and since I like to use a red LED anyway for late night around the house walks, it was the perfect solution for me. It takes weeks to finally drain a single cell, so youy know you are getting your money's worth.

I don't recommend the Surefire E1L. Using Surefire batteries, my E1L wouldn't fire up when the battery reached the end of it useful life. When that same battery was transferred to other 1xCR123 lights (Lumapower M3, Fenix P2DCE), the light worked just fine...albeit sometimes with diminished output. I don't have loads of battery runs to prove this, though.

The Inova site says the X5's are 2xCR123. Where does a guy find info on the 1xCR123 versions?

Bigballer is asking about the L1, which in my experience is a great battery drainer light. It took me forever and a day to kill the original battery that came with my L1.

I agree with Bombel - the LS (even the later iterations) are great battery drainers as well.

...and then there's the Milky Candle (by milkyspit) which, legend has it, can even revive completely dead cells.
