Does anyone know if these exist? The WF-500 comes with what I think is a LOP reflector, but I got an Incan for throw and this is too floody (I don't mind an ugly beam if it thows well).

Any links would be appreciated (if they exist)

Cheers,

PB.

Dumb question - if you're just curious about the effect, could you line the reflector with aluminum foil, shiny side out, loose enough not to impress the OP on the foil? It would be a lot easier than making a mold and casting your own.

Dumb question

"Dumb Question" . . . Don't think so. Lighten up a little . . . pretty harsh on a guy with an honest question.

I too think the orange peel on the WF-500 unneedlessly cuts down on the throw - and wouldn't mind knowing about a smooth reflector that would work in this light.

Actually I took his Dumb Question comment to mean the one he immediately follows up with about the foil idea. I didn't think he was calling my question dumb.

If he is, no, it's a pefectly valid question.

As to the foil idea, I think I'd be hard pushed to get it smooth and aligned enough to be effective.

There is another Ultrafire light with the same body that users an LED that they call a super thrower and I'd consider putting the smooth reflector from that in my Xenon.. though the reflector is plastic so I guess it would throw well till it melted. :(

Maybe you're right, if so I apologize to sysadmn. My mistake for reading his post incorrectly. I too think the foil idea would be difficult to make work. I am considering searching for a smooth reflector with the same dimensions to try in my WF-500 to improve the throw. I don't need smooth fill, I want maximum possible distance for this powerful light. I have lots of other lights for closer in work. Be well my friend, and if you find a workable smooth reflector I hope you'll share the info.

Payback - indeed, I meant, "I have a dumb question." not that your question was dumb. It would be interesting to see how much of a difference the orange peel makes. It was a "dumb question" because I have no idea how much worse foil would be than a true reflector, and whether mechanically it would work. You could put an extremely thin wash of spackle or modeling clay to smooth the surface, but if the effect of using foil was too great, it wouldn't tell you anything.

The misunderstanding is my fault - I was typing the sort of shorthand I use in conversation and you don't have the cues to know what I mean.

Wassernaut - Yes and if you find one make sure you let me know too! :) I took mine down to the local school last night and it has quite a good throw, but it has the potential to have an awesom thow with the right reflector.

sysadmn - I thought so. Flame wars are uncommon here so assumed your post had the less hostile meaing. As to the mods you're suggesting, I'd be concerned with damaging the light so would much prefer a commercial pre made replacement... plus I must admit I'm a lazy mofo :D
