with only a single energizer 2500 nimh, high and turbo seem to be EXACTLY the same, not the slightest flicker when I twist the head. With a E2 lithium, there's a VERY small change (more filling in the spill, no noticable change in hotspot). Is this normal? with l2d tube, all modes seem normal. I'm just wondering why this is and if it's a problem.

tried to search, didn't find too much.

Yep that's perfectly normal. Have the same setup here and noticed the same thing. Still pretty darn bright tho :D

kewl, I figured from most of the numbers I looked at that it was, but never saw someone say that in so many words.

it is still amazingly bright, I do love this light in both configurations :)

I'm waiting for an L2D-CE to arrive, and I'm already contemplating an L1D tube. Thing is, looking at the numbers at flashlightreviews, the L1D seems to have terrible regulation- 1h 47min on medium, but 7h 25m at the `exact' same brightness for the L2D?
I'm assuming the XR-E needs more consistent voltage than a single alkaline AAA cell can produce?
