So what's new with HID's?

I have the Microfire 3500 and am quite happy with it for it's application. I have not really been following whats out hoping the Polarian compact HID would be released but it looks like that won't be for a while.

So is there anything esle that compares to the Microfire? I don't care what it costs. I was just wondering what's out there that I might have missed? Not looking for anything larger then what I have or less powerful. Howbout any new LED's that have similar power to what I have that are instant brightness?

Really looking for another HID but if there is something out there that I have missed please post a link. Howbout something custom? Would anyone know where a custom HID could be made that is more powerful then what I have in the same size? Thanx...

I'm afraid you'd be looking at a custom LED since nothing approaches 3000 lumens stock, furthermore, nothing in that size range is 3000 lumens. About the only thing I can think of that would be smaller and not larger would be the M6 with a Led Zeppelin 3 x MC-E. That would put you at around 2000+ emitter lumens with a bit less "out the front" light loss. That type of head would go best with the FM Megallenium body.

You could also take a look at some of the Elektrolumens creations but most are larger than what you talking about.

Regarding HIDs, the K3500R is the smallest "35W" that I'm aware of so you'd be talking about a "one off" custom of some type. Maybe Mac could make a 35W HID using Xevision guts, but I somehow doubt it would be the same size or smaller.

Lastly and back on the LED topic, you'll be giving up a lot of throw compared to what you're used to.

Yea, I was thinking the same on most of what you said and certainly a few things I hadnt thought of. I guess I will just have to wait and see if MF will come out with something in the 4300 range.
