How about this:
1 x AW Black C Cell , kui C high temp socket for a spacer, overdriven 2Cell stock Mag bulb!
At least some light comes out the front while it sits on a shelf waiting for a real build.

No idea what the final will be , triple P7/MC-E , multi Cree , something practical with huge burst capability.

If you want a huge burst, go for the SST-90! Nailbender got 1325 lumens out the front using a IMR 26650. Check out the posts in this thread. I may have to build one myself!! That's one Hell of an LED!
