Strange part on SF G2Z

I'm wondering what this plastic 'fin' around the G2Z is for. They look like the heatsink/fins on an M3 or M6 but it doesn't make much sense on a polymer light. I think it looks better with the ridges instead of the regular curved part like a normal Z2 or 6P/G2 but I was wondering if there is any real reason for it. Anyone have any guesses as to what its for?

I'd imagine it makes a great attachment point for a lanyard. Using the standard 2 fingers thumb handgun grip you'd want a forward mounted lanyard.

I have no idea what its for but I'd throw a nice glow in the dark o ring in there.

That's what I did with my G2ZL!:twothumbs

I'd imagine that it wasn't designed for a welded ring but rather a simple lanyard you can just wrap around and tie up.

But it comes with a lanyard/ring that is made to fit between the tailcap and body.

I found a small green o-ring that I put in that spot but I still can't figure out if it actually has a purpose. Also, anyone have any tricks on how to get the grip rings off easily? They seem to stretch to an extent but not enough to be taken off...

If you really want them off put some lube all over the place and really warm it up. They'll slide off if you really push it.

As for the slot I too think it's a great place to put a GITD O-ring but what SF put it there for is a mystery to me.

That's for an A2 tailcap.

What size GITD o-ring did you need to fit over there?
I got a G2ZL yesterday, but prefer the clip and flat sides of the C2, so it'll probably be trade fodder shortly.

No, the circumference of the body between the fins on the G2Z is a good bit larger than that at the tailcap.
