I was in Cabelas in Omaha NE on Sat. and asked for some surefire batteries and the sales person told me that pulled all they off of the shelf and shipped them back to Surefire. He did not know any details as to why.

Has anyone heard of a recall on surefire batteries?

There is nothing on the Surefire site.

If there was a "Surefire" battery recall, it would go much farther than just the Surefire branded cells.

Google searching the following turned up nothing.

"Surefire battery recall"
"123A battery recall"

SF-CR123 cells are still orderable from their www site.

A mis-informed employee most likely.

Sorry I didn't mean to cause a stir, I was just curious if anyone had heard anything.

I am sure if it were a recall, it would be all over the web by now.

Assuming it's the same Cabela's as this?

The site says available to pick up in store in 5-8 business days. Sometimes that means that the shops wont stock them and it will be a special order item instead. I had to do this with my camcorder battery in Maplin - they used to hold them in stock, but now it's a special order item. It's probably something as simple as they don't sell enough of them, and they're allocating the shelf space to something else.

You can almost guarantee that is something happens to stock, the shop staff are the last to be told. That's certainly the case where my girlfriend works.

I'm shocked you haven't been banned for even implying surefire is anything but perfect :naughty:
