SureFire 3DL vs. M1 IR

Can anyone shed light on the differences between the two for me?

the M1 IR to me, seems like a joke.

it has only 1(one) 5mm IR LED in it and it cost so tooting much.

i rather buy an edison 5watts IR LED and mod some cheapie light.
