Hey all,

I have a few 6p's of various ages and noticed that the newer ones with the lens retaining ring give a beam with a bit smaller spillbeam, and in addition the edge of the spill beam has shadows of notches created by the indentations on the retaining ring. Has anyone else noticed that, or am I going crazy?

Thanks Sgt LED! Although I still may be crazy! Hmm... got me thinking now, how much does the additional few inches of spill at the end of my room translate to more/less light outdoors? Maybe put the lens ring bezels on my defensive lights (Z2 etc) and the older ones with wider spill on the general duty lights (glovebox lights, etc). It's always something!

Is there a retaining ring that one could purchase to eliminate the shadows of the notches?

One thing to keep in mind is the newer bezels with the retaining ring have glass windows instead of Lexan windows, so should be more scratch resistant. I would think that would be pretty important for a light that rides around in a glovebox (without a holster).

The Oveready smooth stainless steel bezel rings eliminate the visibility of the notches when a Malkoff drop-in is used. Other drop-ins may provide differing results.
