Just dropped a cree for a Wolf Eyes into a SF 6p. Did not have the extra spring.Worked just fine. Worked on first click every time. Even banged it around ..was hoping it would stop working..never did.
Working great still.

I wonder what that spring is for and why this combo I used works just fine. Its the red/white/blue 6p if that matters.

Any thoughts ? I read on sites that SFs need this "extra spring"

There are two kinds of lights that handle D26 lamps.

1. Ones that the D26 sits directly on the battery tube/light housing itself for the negative connection while the center spring touches the battery
2. Ones that the D26 does not sit directly on the battery; therefore the large outer spring is needed to make that connection.

Wolfeyes lights and apparently your SF are examples of #1. Ultrafire, some SF's, Brinkmans, etc are examples of #2.

I posted a thread recently about a topic very related to this regarding Cree drop ins and heat. I think you posted in it.
