I dont understand why it says 200 lumens with optional P61L led assembly, wouldn't it be easier to make it a two stage light then swaping the led module, i can understand with the incandescent?
Well, yes and no, I think. I mean, having a two-stage module would allow for a consolidation of production in that SF would no longer have to make the P60L AND the P61L.
However, such a consolidation wouldn't necessarily be an advantage. First, by making the two into a single module, you have to either force users to learn a new interface, or implement a whole new switching mechanism (e.g., tailswitch à la L1/L2/A2). The first option poses a problem in that these lights are meant for use in a market where you don't want to have to spend even an extra fraction of a second thinking about how to access the brightness you need. And for the second option, well, designing and implementing a new set of switching mechanisms would probably be more expensive than the cost saved by incorporating the P60L and the P61L into one.
Also, the beauty of the P60L and the P61L modules as they are now is that they can be put into ANY light that SF ever previously produced for the P60/P61 (or P90/P91, for that matter). And not only can they be put into any such lights, users of those lights will be able to use them exactly as they did the old light, without having to get used to something new.
That said, I think it would be AWESOME to have an L1/L2/A2-style switch to put onto lights like the 6PL or C2L.
