Surefire E1E problem

Well, I finally replaced my E1E I lost at the airport, but It's giving me problems. It seemed to work fine first out of the box, but after I switched out the tail cap it only works intermittently (even after replacing the original tail cap). I thought it might be dirty contacts so I cleaned them and it seemed to work fine again. It started flickering so I cleaned the contacts a little more, put it back together and nothing. Dead again. Tried different batteries and tail caps, but they don't seem to be the problem either. If it stops working, the only thing that seems to work is taking it apart and putting it back together again repeatedly until it does.

So, do I just need to clean the contacts better? Is there a recommended cleaning solution I should use?

Since it doesn't seem to the tail cap, should I just replace the bulb? I was considering a Lumens Factory drop in anyway.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure what the answer to you problem is. But did you try making sure the bezel is really well tightened down? Maybe you have a weird bulb that is acting funny with it's contacts?

Glad you got another E1E to replace the one you lost. It's such a great light. Small, lightweight, a really nice light. Have mine in front of me as I type this (even before reading your thread).

You can try one thing I had to do with one lamp - not ideal if you switch out lamps a lot, but it worked for me.

I found the negative from the body just wasn't making contact with the lamp base and a little piece of foil rolled in between the lamp base and the thread resolved the issue.

Should I just go ahead and get a Lumens Factory drop in? Is there one recommended over the others? I don't want to have too much battery drain.

Is it safe to use rechargeable batteries? What would the battery life be using a regular lithium vs. an IMR 16340 with the HO-E1R or the HO-E1A? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm very new at this.

What do you mean by safe? The HO-E1R and the EO-E1R were both MADE to run on 3.7v Rechargeable cells only (Li-Ion or IMR). On the other hand, the HO-E1A is for primary cells only (CR123). it will flash on rechargeables.

"Regular" lithium = 3V non-rechargeable cell. Do not use this with "R" lamp asseblies.

IMR (LiMn) and Li-Ion (LiCo) = 3.7 nominal volts or 4.2 volts hot off the charger. Never use these with "A" lamp assembly.
