Surefire voltage flexibility?

Do Surefire 2 x 123 LED lights generally survive using 2 x rcr 123s or not?

or is there a list of these do's and these dont's?

anyone ever pull a driver from a surefire light?

was/is it any better then a DX/shiniing beam?

Older lights maybe, newer lights almost never.
Can't say for RCRs, but in the past certain LED heads can use used with an additional CR123A. surefire broke that compatability sometime in 2007
