I took these two shots with the Microfire Warrior III as an illumination tool for photography... they turned out kinda neat, thought I would share...

Cool pics but I think we'd all rather see beamshots instead.

There was already a pretty good review of the light with beamshots posted, but if you have a specific request, I'll give it a shot...

Anyway thought you guys would enjoy seeing a different use for the light...

I saw some beamshots of the Microfire Warrior III, it looked alot less then I thought. Is it 3500lumens?

I'm hearing it isnt, due to its high clour temp (K)?

thx.

It's probably closer to 2600 lumens but it's still impressive for its size. I have no real complaints with it other than the charging apparatus.

Caligvla, those are cool shots. I like the first one alot.

Yeah it does have a very high color temp, in the 7000s. However, I really like it. What made me fall in love with HIDs on cars was the bluish tint to them. I wanted a car HID headlight I could hold in my hand and that's what I got. For me this light is just a cool toy... If you have a more serious requirements for an HID flashlight this might not be the light for you... Another cool application I found for the light was using it with UV filter. I was using a hand held florescent UV to find kitty accidents and you would have to get really close to the carpet and it took a lot of time combing the area. With the microfire warrior III + UV filter I can quickly find the accident doing a quick sweep across the room from a standing position.

What is your issue with the charger? Just wondering...
One of my concerns is that when my battery has used up it's life, this product might not be on the market anymore and I am SOL for getting a replacement. One of the risks of buying Chinese brands. I pretty much have the same concern about replacing the bulb one day...

Well, my complaint is rather minor but the connector that plugs into the battery charger base isn't secure. Originally I'd push it in an walk away but when I came back the plug has lost contact and it wouldn't be charging. I've since used some electrical tape to hold it better but I'd like to find another way. Also I think it's strange how the battery has to rest with a gravity contact arrangement so of course it has to stand straight up. I've had to put it over in a corner so that I don't knock it out while doing other things. I just want the base to hold the battery somehow.

With regards to battery and bulb availability, I figured that I come up with idea if they go out of business or something. I also keep my eye on Microfire developments. If they start having trouble I'll order another battery for it to get me by for another couple of years.

Hmm my connector plugs in nice and secure... This is so typical of Chinese made products what one person gets isn't always what the next guy gets.
I would contact the vendor for a replacement...

I am considering this Storm Case for the Warrior III

I have been really impressed with the quality of Storm Case over Pelican...
The case will certainly outlast the Microfire. So then what do I do with it?

The vendor is no longer carrying Microfire.....bummer.

That case looks really nice. When the light eventually expires of old age you can put your photo equipment in it. ;)

Caligvla, when I saw the title "Taking Photos with the Microfire Warrior III" I thought it was going to look something like this:

This is how I've used it a few times with my digitals. I've never thought about creating effects with it but that's a cool idea.

Cool setup, tell us about it, what kind of tripod is that, how do you have the Microfire strapped on?

Something else I noticed, is that your reflector looks smooth, could just be the photo but mine has a frosted texture...

BTW have you seen this? it looks like it uses the same battery pack as the Warrior III, I wonder if you can just buy the head?

The tripod is a Manfrotto 3221WN
The head is a Manfrotto 701RC2 Fluid
The Double camera support (the grey platform) is a Bogen 3269
The thing holding the light is the Leica binocular support
The ball head holding the camera is a Manfrotto ProBall 308RC
In the pictures in the link (below) the L-shaped support is call a Bino-hand.

Here is a link with more pics, descriptions, and variations. It's a really flexible set up for lighting, pictures and mounting any type of optic. It's completely modular.

That multi-led head looks interesting but not very bright was far as the good multi-leds go. It's probably only one output level too.
