The A2 Aviator helps me save money....

It's funny, I've noticed an unusual benefit to my Aviatrixed A2....

whenever the urge for a new light strikes me, I simply take out my Aviatrixed A2 and play with it for a few minutes, after that, I ask myself "what does <new light i want> do that the A2 doesn't?".....

the urge for the new light just goes away....

my A2 has saved me from buying a Novatac, preordering a Proton Pro, and ordering one of the new Cree SF's (L1/E1L/E2L), and for that, I thank it, the A2 helps me seperate my "Wants" from my "Needs"

I already have too many lights I don't use, lights that now live in my Bugout Bags, the last thing I need is to spend more disposable income on a light that i'll play with until the "newness" wears off and then just put it into storage/bugout bag

A2, my checking account thanks you

I got my A2 really really cheap , so I already saved a lot of money and I have yet to find something that would impress me like the A2.

Yup, the A2 will do that to you.

My advise is: if you want to keep buying lights, don't get an A2. :nana:

MacTech: I can also relate to that. I use my A2 Aviatrix 2-stage nightly. Not because I have to, simply because I can! I also passed on the Surefire L1, but could not resist the Novatac 120P. Well 50% ain't bad!

I have the two stage White high/Red low, I've also sanded the red LED to smooth out the beam, cut some of the throw, and minimize the "Pink-Eye" effect it has on the white LED beam

I had a dream a few nights ago that Bawko came back to CPF with a post basically stating he had good news and bad news...

the good news was that he sent his Aviatrix mod to Paul Kim and TPTB at SureFire and they were so impressed with it that they bought the rights to the module off him, and would be introducing it in the new A2's

the bad news is that he would no longer be able to produce and sell the Aviatrix as SF now owned it, and SF would not be selling the Aviatrix as a standalone part, you want a new Aviatrix ring?, you'd have to buy another A2....

luckilly, it was just a dream.....

It's funny that you post this now. I was just thinking the same thing this morning. I have been looking at the offerings on B/S/T and I keep asking myself would I use this instead of my A2? The answer is no. It's really killing a lot of my fun. There is nothing to replace the excitement of waiting for a new light to arrive.:twothumbs

Me three. I was really getting the itch to get another light after realizing that my recently purchased Fenix P2D-CE . .although a fine light for it's purpose is actually too small and smooth. I was trying to light something up in my car last night and turned it in my hand to thumb press the clickie and realized that the switch was buried and my baby finger partially obscured the bezel. That's the first time I relaized a light can actually be too small. I then thought of my A2 and how much i love the feel . . and thought I should look into a smaller SF that is just small enough to edc but big enough to grip. So i was close to the L1 and new G2L . .but do they really buy me enough vs. the A2? I'm thinking not. And the E1L is just not exciting enough at 30 lumens to push me over the edge. E2E is a touch smaller . .but wait . .no regulation!

I think the A2 still rules.

Can I ask about the tint. Do you mean perfect white . .or is it slightly warmer etc. that makes it special?

What a great post. Probably the best testamant a light could recieve. If you did a poll of the greatest lights still in circulation and seeing regular use I'd expect the A2 would be top, top 3 at least.
