Re: The CR2 Ion Flashlight - News & Updates
Hey Folks,
We're moving right along, the production of prototypes will begin tomorrow, and I'll keep you posted with all the news on that. I'm very excited that all of this is moving now, and am looking forward to getting the parts in. Everything is being done as though it were the full run of parts, meaning, everything is being hard anodized, the reflector electropolished and nickel plated, etc., so everything can be checked and cleared beforehand.
In the next few days I'll be doing the same thing with the new convertor boards and setting everything up for the arrival of the machined parts.
In other news, the brass version has been cancelled.
In it's place, 75 pieces of Aluminum Bronze will be done instead. After seeing some photos of Chop's work, and reports on the properties of the metal, I liked the idea of using that far better than brass. It appears to be a much stronger metal, more resistant to corrosion, and wears far better than what brass does. It's also a very nice looking metal. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The cost of the aluminum bronze version will be slightly higher, likely around $180, than the cost of the listed brass version since it's a far more expensive metal, and harder to machine than aluminum or brass.
The other versions will still be done as noted earlier in the post - HA Black, HA Natural, and about 45 Titanium pieces.
Well, that about covers it for now, I'll keep you posted with any more news and updates.
Take care folks. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
