I made this mod last week, and have been waiting for my site to come back online, but its not happening.
So, Logic is kind enough to let me borrow some space to host it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I wont post all the pics and such in the thread, cuz later they will all have to be changed whenever I host it, so, for now, just view the webpage I made for it.

The MagUflex is a 2D Maglite, that has been modified with a "Uflex" Circuit and TWAK LuxIII LED.
This project started a LONG time ago, and has been changed, and revamped more times than I can count. Becuase of this, the lights fit and finish is not near what I would like it to be. Half way through this project, I knew this one would end up being a good learning experience. This light turned out really well, and is super useful.
First the Mags switch had to be completely gutted, and room made for the Uflex to fit inside it.
Then the momentary push button was wired to the Uflex, and the two were then AA epoxied into place. Alittle hot glue here and there for good measure.
Then wire was wrapped around the groove on the bottom of the switch assembly.
This is something I will do very differently next time. Next time I will make the negative contact via the retainer ring that holds the switch in place. That way the batteries hold it tight at all times.
This first version just makes contact by the wire that is pressing up against the inner wall of the maglight. Which has had the anodizing removed in order to make contact. It works, but I think the other way would have been alot better.
The "Pill Sink" is a special heatsink that me and Roth worked on. I basically came up with the idea, but couldnt make it at the time, because I didnt have my lathe yet. Well, we changed plans so many times, it caused the sink, and the rest of the light for that matter, to become something totally different from what I set out to build.
That is why the "Pill of the sink is alitte messed up now, it had to be modified alot. The screw that holds the pill in place, was sticking up, and interfering with the reflector, it that had to be taken care of.
This "Pill Sink" design allows yout to change the LED without actually popping it unglued from the sink. Each LED is epoxied to its own Pill, with its very own wire harness. When you want to change LEDs, you simply take out the screw, pop out the pill, and pop in the one you one that particular day.
The connection to the Uflex is made by a computer Hard Drive LED indicator light wire harness. Fitting isnt it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif This allows you to even pop out the entire heat sink, and not worry about it jerking loose, and ripping wires out of the Uflex. It will simply pop right off.
The Uflex itself really makes this light AWESOME !!!!!!
This model is set to 1000mA at the highest level.
It has 8 brightness levels, that can be stepped trough by simply holding down the button.
You tap the button to turn the light on and off.
One really nice feature, is it will remember what your last brightness level was when you go to turn it back on. BUT, if you press and hold the button to turn it on, it will automatically goto its dimmest setting. This is really useful for times when you come in from outside, where you were using the light at full power,,, but in the house, you dont want it to turn back on in full power, and blind you.
The Uflex also has a auto dimming feature. I am not even sure how that works yet. But i think you can set it to set down in brightness over time, to save batts. Plus it makes sense,,, as your eyes are adjusting to the light.
The light is powered by 8 AA batteries. That are help by a custom holder I made from a Radio Shack battery holder. Its a VERY tight fit, and most the holders body had to be cut away.
This light could also be ran off of 2 or 3 123 batteries.
Light output on high is very nice. The mags reflector makes a very tight spot, which makes this light a great thrower. The lights focus is also still adjustable just like the stock Maglite.
