The new R2 Cree emitter. Who has built a light with one?

I built up a fresh 3D mag tonight.

Pewter 3D M@g host.
Sandwich Shoppe GD 1000 converter board
Cree R2 on MCPCB
38mm McGizmo reflector from the Sandwich Shoppe
Custom made copper heatsink to match up the reflector and emitter.

The color is slightly greenish. Kind of yucky looking. Next to another 3D M@g I did that has a USWOH Seoul, it doesn't compare well. The Seoul is much "whiter" and as bright to my eye.

I like the reflector. It tightens up the side spill a bit compared to a regular M@g reflector. I like that.

I think I may put a Seoul in this light. Was expecting more from this emitter.

What has been others experience with the tint on the R2?

I got some of the first R2's available that were WG tint. I had the same reaction, yuck, too green. I then got some R2 WH bins and am pleased with their color. No green tint visible, more towards yellow. The WH bin definately feels brighter to my eyes than the WG bin.

I built an XR-can for my Aleph 19 with an R2 WG from Endeavour.

I like the color. I don't notice a green hue.

How does the R2 pit against the SSC P4-U bin? What is the maximum spec on the emitter (output @ voltage/current)

Wonder if the color variation has anything to do with Cree's new packaging of the emitter. The new design where there's a silver platter that the die sits on (sort of like SSCP4s and Luxeons) rather than the usual yellow surface you see inside the glass dome of the emitter. Anyone have an idea what the new design change is suppose to do? I asked a local supplier and they told me they got no explanation from Cree.

This emitter is one of the new ones that has phosphorous only on the die. I do have some earlier R2's that I could try out. I guess I'll test all that I have to see if one has a decent tint. I'm not looking for perfection, but I don't want to get thirsty for a Margarita everytime I fire up this light either. LOL
