I was at Walmart to get some drinks for the vending machine and just HAD to look in the flashlight aisle.:shakehead

There is a "new" but I don't think for a moment "improved" Rayovac Sportsman 2AA 1W.:poke:

It seems to have an optic now, and it is nearly an inch longer than the un-changed 3W.:xyxgun:

I didn't have the stones or the desire to get one to test.:twak:

If I'm not the first to mention this..

Hmm, I haven't seen this one yet at my local Walmart. Does it still use a Luxeon? I know sometimes it is hard to tell what LED is behind an optic.

I saw it at the Walmart in Cleveland, TX but besides noticing the optic and the fact that all the ones behind it were the same I wouldn't know that.

The fact that it's quite a bit longer I would think hurts its chances....

Maybe it was a brain fart. Because I haven't seen anything but the same 1W we've grown used to since I thought I saw this other one.

I am pretty sure I saw a longer light with an optic, but maybe not a Rayovac.

Allrighty then, there IS a change. There is now a camoflaged Rayovac 1W 2AA along with the gray 1 and 3W at the Walmart in Livingston, TX. It appears to be a LOT like the River Rock 2AA 3W at Target but with a 1W indicated on the package.

If I got one, I'd have a matched pair of Camo and Gray...

The light you saw uses an optic with a Luxeon LED, but will not be replacing the 1W Highbeam light. Both will continue to be sold for the foreseeable future.

I'll see if I can grab one of the new ones and do a runtime and throw test this weekend to compare vs. the Highbeam 1W version.
