I just received my A9 and to my disappointment, it won't work with my Ultrafire 16340 880mAH cells. It works fine with standard CR123 lithiums and 18650's. I tried 6 16340 cells that all check out for voltage and work in my other lights.

any ideas?:sigh:

Check the length of your batteries. Maybe they are too long and that causes the tailcap not making contact with battery tube.

maybe it needs a tiny battery magnet to make contact up front?

well, just confirmed the connection, still nothing. I'm going to shoot an email to Kit-tronics

Just check the current with the 18650 cell and at 4.1 volts its only drawing .84 amps, so 3.45 watts. is this normal?

That's strange. I'm using UltraFire 16340 880mAH 3.6V protected cells and my Tiablo A9 works fine.

I have the same problems with Ultrafire/Trustfire 16340 cells from DX. Standard primaries from Panasonic, Eveready, Duracell and Titanium works fine.

When I place the batteries side by side the UF/TF batteries are definitely longer, since then I have switched to using Solarforce 16340 cells which have the same length as the primaries, the problem disappeared.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Luau

I was thinking that as well, but even when i would bypass the tailcap with a wire it still would not light up.

I contacted Kit-tronics and they said to send it back

Thanks for taking time to write down you ideas anyway. Just looks like i'll be out of a flashlight for a couple weeks:(

I just ordered a Tiablo A9 from Kit-tronics and then this Kit: 2 x RCR123A 3.7V 880mah Ultrafire Protected Li-Ion Batteries & TL-100 Universal Li-Ion Charger 16340 from Battery Junction, are those batteries I ordered going to work, Iam kinda worried now, I should have asked before ordering :(

maybe it's a fake tiablo a9?
The Tiablo I ordered isnt fake, I paid near 75 bucks for the light and shipping, Iam just curious to see if anyone has tried 2 3.7V RCR123 batteries in theirs, I also ordered 3.6V RCR123 Batteries. BTW Kit-Tronics is a authorized Tiablo dealer..

maybe your batteries are fake copies of real RCR batteries.

Seriously. I would look at the battery terminals and compare them to non rechargeable CR 123's to see if there is any physical difference in size and shape. the battery magnet/spacers that they sell at Lighthound.com have worked wonders for some of my lights and battery configurations.

I already contacted both Kit-tronics and tiablo. Kit-tronics is waiting to see if the can just send the replacement part to fix it verses sending in the light to be fixed. The light is rated up to 10 volts.
