Just finished this custom head for another CPF'er. It houses a Gdup Cree LE with a cut-down McR17XR reflector. The head was custom designed to house these parts and is one of a kind. The new owner requested it be slightly larger in diameter than a standard 1" head to accommodate deeper flutes. As you can see it will reside on a McGizmo McClickie Pak.

Thought you might like to see the LE/reflector/centering ring.

I'm the new owner of this "Fat-head" McGizmo-PD look alike. Thought I would give my impressions now that I have played around with the light for a few days. I was carrying around a Haiku and before that a PDS and PD-Mule for my ECD. I greatly prefer the GDup with Clicky switch setup vs. PD for everyday use. The Haiku is a great light but it is a little on the big side and I prefer the look of the McGizmo PDS to the "ring thing" on the Haiku. This head is almost .3 inches shorter which really makes a difference and it has the classic McGizmo PDS look. I compared the output with the Haiku. It's the same reflector and chopping it down cuts down on some of the long range throw, but the side spill opens up and throw is still plenty acceptable for everyday use. All in all it is a more useful beam and the GDup is a little brighter so the loss in throw is not something I will miss.

We went caving last Sunday and I used the light in that large dark environment. It was the 2nd brightest light among a group of 12 people or so and was easily able to light up a large area at distances of 30-50 feet. This will be my new ECD light and I have it in my pocket as I write this. I use a flashlight everyday at work here at Boeing. The shop calls for engineering support so I end up crawling around in the belly of Aircraft and using a light to read part numbers and look at damage etc so a good light is very important. Looks like the Haiku is now redundant so it will probably end up on CPF. Great performing light, nice guy to work with. Thanks again Brian.

Hey, just a thought. Looks like there is enough room for tritium vials around the reflector, behind the glass

Yes your right. Around the reflector is a groove that one could put small Trit. vials or fill with a glow ring/powder. I plan to do one or the other.
