I was bidding on a couple of these expandable collets on eBay and won the bids. The seller then sent me a e-mail asking if I'd be interested in some others that he had. Since these sell for $162 each in new condition from Schaublin, and he was offering 17 pieces for about $450 delivered, how could I refuse? :D

And the slitting blade was a freebie from the seller!

Total savings versus having to buy new: $2300.00

Nice catch :)

Expandable collets (and collets in general) are beyond useful, especially when working with finished parts like lights. I adapted a 5C collet chuck from a coffee grinder to work with my super spacer & use it all the time:

That is one hell of a good deal you got their. I'm usually on the prowl to get quality tooling on the cheap. Congratz.

Energie,

Interesting tools--who makes them?

I can see their usefulness if one is dealing with open-ended tubes, but I'm using mine often on battery tubes that have a solid, closed end, so I really like the Schaublin expandable collets then.

The tools are from divitec: link

But you are right.
Schaublin machines and tools are the best of the best.
Not easy to get in Germany and very expensive!
