Trying To Replace Screw Top 6V Battery With 2 6V Spring Top

There are plenty of creative people around here. I am trying to come up with a box or gadget that can be used to replace the expensive 6V screwtop alkaline lantern batteries with two 6V spring top alkaline batteries. Anybody up to the challenge of making such a thing for me at a reasonable price?

Ok, no ideas. What about a box to replace the 6V spring top with two sets of 4D batteries?

I think those springs will flex sideways enough that you could slide a small bolt up through them then spin a nut on it like the screw type.

Well, there wasn't much interest in this thread. I thought I would post what my limited skills and tools came up with after a visit to Radio Shack.
