I got that new Ultrafire Lion charger and have been reading about it trickle charging after it turns green. So I've been watching it closely. Well, there was a like 10 minute break between red and green I didn't see, and the room where it is now smells strange. Battery looks alright but I might just go back to the DSD charger.

I've heard of others using a coffee pot timer to terminate power to the charger; sounds like a good idea with any charger.

Just received this charger and two 14500 protected li ion batteries. They charged in about 45 minutes with no issues....heat, smell or otherwise.

Maybe Chana is talking about this one? I was eyeballing it myself, seems to be the same as the one AW is selling, but for half the price, so I thought about buying 2.

If there are numerous issues with other people's charger like this, I may go buy from Matt instead.

Any thoughts? :anyone:

That's the one. It seemed to charge the cells to a higher voltage than the DSD charger. I'm concerned about it though. Some people have said it continues charging even when the light turns green.

If AW's li-ion charger thread is read, that is precisely the point someone makes there.
