Well I have had this project in my mind for some time. My biggest philosophy was to use what I had laying around.

I also believe most of us all have some of this stuff laying around.

Looks simple enough...Start with a 2D Maglite

This is what it took to build:

Mag 2D
4Sevens Heatsink
SSC P7 C-bin
DX Reflector
Kai 52mm Glass Lens
2 18650's
Custom Parallel Adapter

This is a closer look at the battery adapter that I built

And this is how it sits, slightly longer than the mag body itself. The tailcap has been sanded to allow negative contact with the battery pack.

I like the battery pack.

Can we get some detail shots of the pack and how its oriented inside.

Does the bezel screw down all the way with the DX reflector (can we get a shot of that)?

Those dX reflectors have a really nice beam.

No, the bezel won't tighten up snug against the head. The reflector needs some trimming in a lathe for that to happen.

I might be able to put up some pictures of the battery pack later. The bezel does not screw down all the way.

If you look closely, i trimmed off the bezel gap with an o-ring that I had laying around. It looks relatively decent considering I don't want to mess with the reflector.

It's slow work but if you put a file in a vice and hold the reflector flat against the file, turning the reflector as you go you can make a good job of the reflector. I've done this a couple of times and the bezel screws right down.

No resistors are necessary for this operation. The internal resistance of the LED as well as the voltage sag under a load allow this to be a quite efficient P7 mag.
