Update mini mag 2AA??

New here. Nice, informative forum. Couple questions...

Does the AA MiniMag, modified with the TerraLUX TLE-5EX http://batteryjunction.com/tle-5k2.html and TCS-1 tailswitch, require the use of fancy batteries?

Or are standard alkaline AA's useable?



I've been in the market for an EDC light, but unsure of exactly what I want. I really like the Fenix P2D for the size and different output levels (and price), but may upgrade my old MM for SNG's if it's a viable option...

Thoughts/opinions?

The TLE-5K2 does not need fancy batteries. It will work with alkalines, but as for any high power flashlight, NiMH would hold up much better under load. Alkaline cells voltage sags under load, where NiMH will not do so nearly as much.
